The valley of the Helhunds. A wide vale, white with snow and the dotting of thick pine forests. The place is filled with animals who wander restricted by the laws of nature. None who kill are without judgement, the judges are the Hunds of Lady Hel.

They ran, and ran. Birchwood was fast, but Darken has incredible stamina. They rushed through all of the open fields, and called out to any animal the sensed. They warned the weak, or the young to flee to safety, and called to them the strongest to fight.

"BARRRRRRRRROOOOOO" They howled, hoping that all would hear their desperate warnings.

Sever leads the way, loping along at an easy traveling pace. His belly is warm with their recent kill. His nose is full of the scent of herds, packs, and family groups. The wind tells him a story of numbers, distance, and direction. This valley is full of life, full of prey.

He and Doth are on the hunt – not just for meat – for revenge.

Sever smiles a cruel lop-sided smile. Somewhere ahead he smells the distinctive traces of a Helhund Rot.

Birchwood seemed anxious, Darken noted his concern grow and his eagerness bristle him as they entered a heavily scented Rot territory, "what lays ahead for you Birchwood?" Darken queried loosely.
"My families Rot... I have not seen them in awhile," he kept loping with Darkens long strides. "and suddenly I am worried for them." No more words were neccesary between them as they quickened their pace through the white tundra.

Sever pauses, scenting the wind. He feels his companion growing restless.
Doth's blunt, gluttonous nature was ever at odds with Sever's patient cunning.

"There is a den of foxes close by," he says quietly. "Or a herd of elk. And a Rot further on."

He could guess what Doth was likely to chose, the nearest meal.

Kirin gets up, sniffing the air. Something is amiss....But he isn't sure what. He turns his sightless eyes to the south, growling deep in his throat. "Something is not right...Something is coming." He heard Ansem trot up behind him, no doubt a smile on his youthful face. "Hello! Is something the matter, Old man." A slightly pained look came across Kirin. Ansem was too old now, Kirin couldn't lie to him anymore. He was alpha now, Rayne was gone. "I don't really know...But something bad is coming to the Valley, and we must be ready. I want Solana moved north, she is too old to be fighting. Calina as well." Ansem looked at Kirin skeptically. "Sure thing, Gramps."

A snore rocked his body, shaking his chest and throat viciously as the gargantuan Hund slept the day away. Stomach concave from starvation, he was too fatigued too often to hunt, and so after traveling a short distance he would collapse, waking hours, sometimes days later. When he managed to eat something, mainly remains left behind by other HelHunds, he left no trace of bone or cartilage, only dried blood which he licked from the ground hungrily. This was the burden he had to suffer for choosing solitude over group conflict. He woke suddenly to barrage of scents, each clinging to the tissue of his nostrils and forcing him into consciousness. Unwillingly he rolled onto his side, then got shakily to his feet. Blinking a few times, his vibrant orange eyes settled on the distant figures of his kind rampaging across the Plains. His blood-stained muzzle wrinkled, pulling back into a silent snarl that bared his wickedly-sharp teeth menacingly. He was more or less positive no one of them had seen him, or if they did they didn't care to bother him. With a snort, he began to walk through the snow, seeking out anything that could serve as sustenance. As he wandered, he gnawed on tree bark, grinding it over his molars to achieve the sensation of eating and to subdue the roar of his stomach.

Calina turned as her pack migrated, seeing a massive hund snarling in the distance. A shiver ran through her as she continued to follow. Who is he?, she wondered, gray eyes quizzical. Ansem nipped her flank, snapping her back to reality. She picked up speed to catch up to them again, bounding through the snow.

Harlequin's bi-colored mane flapped without uniformity in the chilly breeze as he lumbered on, stopping only when the odor of a lemming permeated his flared nostrils. Immediately he began to salivate, eyes brightening as he eagerly sniffed for the direction the scent was wafting from. After a brief spell he locally the direction from which the smell came, and then silently slouched, creeping forwards like a white and red ghost. As the scent became stronger his stomach cramped and whined, quieting only when he ignored it. Finally he saw it, a mound of snow against a tree, undoubtedly a snow-covered maw to a burrow. Circling the tree at a 3-foot radius, he made sure that there were no other apertures that the small creature could escape from. Once satisfied that there was no other way for the rodent to flee from, he stalked over to the mound, only to find the snow shoveled aside and tiny paw-prints leading off towards bushes. He swallowed an irritated rumble and then dove after the tracks, ripping, undaunted, into the bushes. His right forepaw landed on the brown mammal's tail, causing it to squeal and scamper out into the snow. He was right on it's heels. He chased it no more than a yard when a soporific haze clouded his head. He blinked, fighting back his exhaustion and bounded after the lemming. In a split second he lunged, front paws landing on the small animal's back. A sickening crack fell on deaf ears as he crippled the poor, scared rodent. Without bothering to pull it aside into a more remote area where he would be less likely to have his prey stolen from him, he sunk his fangs into it's abdomen, thrashing maliciously until it broke open like a scarlet pinata. He feasted on the small meal until nothing but some fur and thick bone remained. This snack only padded the jagged knives of hunger that stabbed and carved at his insides. Disappointed that he wasn't full and completely drained from the minor chase, he sluggishly trotted out of the way, toward a cluster of bushes. He only remembered the bushes in the distance as he approached them, then everything went black and he felt himself collapse.

Calina was spellbound by the huge hund as she galloped by, something about his commanding air had her intrigued. Ansem did not approve of his sister's newfound interest in the loner, he didn't like the look of Harlequin. Solana nudged the female along, kicking her into high gear. Calina reluctantly pulled her pale icy eyes away and faced the road again.
"Who is that?" she whispered to her mother.
"I think his name is Harlequin. He's a wild thing, best be not to interact with him."

Harlequin grumbled and rolled over in his sleep, waking when his muzzle became immersed in the moist, cold snow. His eyes opened, each filled with menace and panic from a less than pleasant waking. He looked around, saw nothing alarming, and then plopped back down in the snow. His mind ordered his body to rise, it unwillingly obliged, and they started off at a brisk trot towards the potent stench of rotted meat, probably Hunds, but if by chance it was a carcass he'd take his chances.

Calina saw Harlequin coming and smiled in her most kind, welcoming manner. Sure, he was a big, scary hund, but maybe he was a kind hund after all. Ansem was ready to attack if anything went wrong, so he braced himself and lingered by Calina's side. She chuckled and nudged him.
"You're so uptight, Ansem. He's big, but he won't hurt us."
"And how do you know?"
"He's been around these parts for a while and hasn't tried anything."

As his eyes came into focus, he saw it was two Hunds. Disappointment and excitement swirled in his mind. Sadly this was not a meal, as he'd inimitably hoped, but this could improve his chances of survival substantially. He continued towards them, and when his vision improved he noted that the male was especially tense. Was the female his mate? A relative? He didn't really care. All that mattered was that he couldn't come on as a threat, which was usually hard considering his abnormally large mass. Although, his rather passive disposition was something that often allowed him to stay, so long as his size did not intimidate the others before he could demonstrate his indifferent disposition. He came to a slow stop about ten feet from them, fur buffered by the chilly wind and mane toppled over flimsily, rippling like a flag. His nostrils flared as he inhaled, registering the pungent odor of decay the other two rots gave off. Beneath its snowy veil his tail wagged in greeting.

Doth looked at Sever, and growled, "I just need something to eat." Looking around hungrily with his orange eyes. He sniffed, and the warm scent of blood filled his nostrils.

Ansem suddenly was filled with fear and ran to the head of his rot, spotting Doth and Sever in the distance.
"PREPARE FOR AN ATTACK!"
Calina shouted at Harlequin, "RUN!" and sprinted to her brother's side. They had to protect the rot. It was his duty as Alpha and her's as beta. He snarled at the massive saber, smelling fresh blood on him. You will not get us today, smilodon. You have no chance against six hunds. Unfortunately, he had no knowledge of the true strength of a demon saber, much less two.

Harlequin blinked, vitriolic orange eyes snapping to the two sabers. His black lips twitched in a sadistic snarl, head lowering and hackles lifting. He shuffled slowly towards the other Hunds, eyes settled on the giant felines. He kept about five feet between himself and the two Hunds, since they were the best chance he had at survival. If he went solo, the Sabers would easily pick him off. On the other hand, if this came to a fight he'd probably die fighting, but at least it'd help the other Helhunds protect their rot.

Ansem turned to Calina, summoning his most commanding air. "Calina! Take mom and go!"
She shook her head adamantly. "No way, I'm not abandoning you here!"
"You will escape! That is an order. Now GO!"
She took Solana to the treeline with another young female., leaving the males behind to fight. "Take my mother and run East. A hund named Kadence will take care of you. Now leave, we will handle the sabers."
The female nodded and she and Solana took off into the woods. Calina turned the other way and returned to Ansem's side, prepared to fight with her life.

Doth watched as the two hunds stood before him and Sever. "How delicious." He said, jumping on top of Ansem, knowing the hund will not survive the encounter.

Helios saw the hund being attacked, and howled, getting Doth's attention. He said, "Eat me." Running in the Smilodemon's direction.

Doth turned, seeing the plump hund. He smiled, baring his long fangs. He ran toward Helios, grabbing him by the belly.

Helios said to Ansem, "Go, Brother." And heaved his last sigh.

Doth raveshly attacked the helhund's stomach, ripping out the intestines, crushing his ribs. He grabbed his stomach, and shook his head, spewing blood everywhere.

It all happened so fast that all Harley could do was stare. He felt bad, seeing the Hund torn apart like a wet piece of paper. Staggering back, he began to head towards the trees, eyes never moving from the scene that had unfolded. Taking off into the brush, he felt angry that Helhunds would continue to fall prey to the appetite of Sabers. He had become so accustom to Hunds being unrivaled by so many creatures that seeing one destroyed so easily secretly terrified him. He had become so lost in thought that he plowed into a tree trunk, recoiling into a bush, and pissing off a rabbit that shrieked and bounded off, its fur blending into the snow with ease. He scrambled to his feet and looked behind him for the other two Hunds, who would surely be on the retreat too.

Dooth continued to take apart the helhund, gorging himself so much he stoped. He vomited up blood and meat all over the helhund, but ate it right back up again. He threw up once more, repeating the process a few times.

((Sorry, Doth's pretty gross xD))

(Ah, OK. Man, this is a first. Usually no one else is ever on when I am. >D)

His sharp eyes caught the sight of the Saber maliciously devouring and regurgitating the remains of the Hund and shuddered, especially when he noticed that the corpse still moved postmortem. Biology is gross.

Kalypso shuddered as she watched. Turning to Harlequin, she said, "We must go."

He nodded in agreement. "But what about the other two, can we just leave them?" His probing orange eyes rested on Kalypso.
