The Tar Pits - Declaar's Territory

Where anything occurring in territory belonging to Declaar, (the first tar marked hund) will be RPed.

Sandpiper and Eireen had wandered into Declaar's territory in an effort to get as far from the sabers as possible.

Harlequin composed himself further and just replied smoothly, "Not a problem, just a bit frazzled. Thank you for your concern." Often he found that his way of speaking waltzed on the boarder of gentlemanly and robotic. Occasionally it scared him, that he'd become so detached from himself lately.

He moved deeper into Declaar's territory with the others to hunt, unsure of what they'd find, if anything at all. A myriad of scents passed through the chambers of his nose; many unique and unfamiliar, others too stale to be recognized, and some identifiable as Declaar or Jaik. He found himself distracted, trying to match scents as he walked along, rarely matching one stench to one he'd passed a ways back. he had almost entirely forgotten that he should be seeking out prey.

Sandpiper's stomach growled and she sighed. She needed food. "Hey, Eireen? I'm gonna go hunt, you head to the den, 'kay?" Without waiting for an answer, she trotted across the plains, nose pointed upwards.

Eireen gulped and followed the scent of familiar hunds. She'd hated herself for it, but she was absolutely petrified of being alone. Especially now. Fear began to creep through her veins when a twig snapped. She whirled, a vicious snarl on her face, a vain attempt to mask her utter terror. Her expression softened immediately. "Oh, Harlequin...I'm sorry."

Jaik smiled at Piper's question, looking over at his sister, and she was having the same reaction. They were always thinking the same thing, and always knew what was on each other's mind. Akina nodded, saying, "We are." She noticed Harlequin's unease earlier, but now he seemed fine. Walking over to him, she asked, "Are you ok? You seemed a bit uneasy earlier."

Sheesha smelled new hunds in her son, Jaik's, territory. Knowing Akina could handle them, she was fine.

Herun, brother to Jaik and Akina, howled into the wind. He smelled two new female hunds (Piper and Eireen.), and started trotting into Jaik's territory. He saw that the shehunds had already crossed into Herun's territory though, so he watched as they tried to hunt. His piercing reddish brown eyes studied them, and he wondered if they were a threat.

Terrak was in the snow, missing an adult horn. His head ached, and he vowed to kill Renoir.

Framelle and Chamille, daughters of Declaar, wandered alone.

Harley only smiled at Eireen understandingly, continuing along. The scent of a male caught his attention. It was a fresh scent and it was bothering him. His fur bristled as he continued to walk around, still dawdling, more or less waiting for one of the females to pick up on the scent of prey. Eventually he grew bored of exploring the variety of odors, for they had begun to cloud his head. His nose wiggled in something between a sneeze and an itch, his eyes involuntarily closing as he used a paw to rub at the irritated tissues. With the girls in sight, he bounded after them, trailing behind in waiting.

Terrak watched as he saw Harley. He was next to his adopted brother, Herun.

Herun went over to Harley and the females, saying, "It seems you have crossed into my territory, sir." His hackles were raised, and Terrak stood behind him menacingly.

Harely nonchalantly turned to face the male, his fur still bristled, causing his size to practically double. A silent malevolence took to his features, though his body resisted the impulse to respond. "My apologies, we'll be sure to leave," he retorted, muzzle crawling into a snarl that he had not summoned. Noting it, he quickly relaxed his maw into its previous state. Naturally he found himself moving in front of the females, almost protectively.

"Oh, uh, I mean no harm. I'm staying with Declaar just as soon as I can find a group to travel with..." Eireen showed Herun her belly in submission. Eireen was not a strong personality, like Sandpiper, so she preferred to submit to other hunds rather than fight for dominance.

Sandpiper scented something old and sick. She grinned. An old bull musk ox had stumbled onto Declaar's turf. She pressed herself to the ground, making sure only her tail was showing. The animal walked closer and closer, completely unsuspecting as out of nowhere, a hund surged upward from the snow, jaws slamming shut on his trachea.

Herun wasn't usually the aggressive type, but Sandpiper's display of nonchalant uncaring ticked him off. He barked at her, "And why are you here." He was seething.

Harlequin, who was never one to put up with a male disrespecting a female, felt his lip quivering into a growl. "You should not talk to others in such a terse manner," he chastised, voice suspiciously calm.

Herun turned to Harlequin, and said, "If you haven't noticed, you are on my territory. My territory means my rules." His hackles raised.

Terrak tried to clean the place where his horn used to be.

Harlequin looked around nostrils flaring to pick up on no more than a faint territorial marking that he'd easily overlooked. Inside something within tugged on him to flee, but the other part screamed for him to stand his ground. Suppressing the conflict, he only nodded and turned, nudging Eireen with his nose softly and muttering, "We should go." He looked around for Sandpiper. His head gently slanted back. He released a long, loud howl to signal a regrouping. He thought he'd heard rustling, perhaps she'd caught something. Rather than chase after her, he figured it best to wait for her to return.

Herun nodded solemnly.

Akina heard Harlequin's howl, and decided to join the party. Upon her arrival, she saw her adoptive brother, Herun, shooing her friends off his territory. "HERUN!!" She barked sharply, "What are you doing?!"

Herun saw his sister barking at him, and he yipped, "They were on my territory."

Akina growled, "You mean our Unlce's territory. You just inherited it."

Herun turned to face the ground.

"Declaar said they were free to wander, now leave them alone." She said defiantly.

Terrak came from behind Herun, saying, "We were in the right."

Akina barked, "No, leave them!" Standing in front of Harlequin and Eileen.

Terrak barked vicously, missing Akina by inches.

Akina nipped his neck, growling and sinking down to her belly.

Terrak grabbed her muzzle in his mouth, and shook his head. He left deep wounds on the female's muzzle.

Akina yelped with her muzzle still in his maw.

"HEY!" "LEAVE HER BE!" Sandpiper and Eireen lunged at Terrak. Eireen jumped on his back and sank her teeth in the nape of his neck. Sandpiper crawled under his stomach and used the force of her weight to throw Terrak off Akina.

Harlequin didn't see the point in this fight. His chest tightened as snapped, strings of saliva being projected from his maw, "KNOCK IT OFF!" His muscles rippled with anticipation as he allowed his body to hunch towards the ground, ready to fling himself into the mess and rip them off each other if it came to that.

Eireen stopped dead at Harlequin's commanding shout, but Sandpiper pinned Terrak beneath her, snarling in his face. "I'm done with this freak." She leaned in, close to his ear and whispered in a terrifyingly sweet voice, "Hurt her again and I'll kill you."

"Sandpiper," he said, clearly annoyed. "We are guests here," he stated dryly, his eyes meeting hers and pleading that she let Terrak go. If these altercations continued they'd surely be thrown out of the territory, or possibly killed.

The she-hund scoffed and got off the loathsome creature, kicking dirt on the angry red wound where his horn would have been. "I'll let you off...This time."

Harlequin did what he usually did to alleviate stress, he plopped onto his rump and scratched at the base of his head with his hind paw. His tongue dangled from his jaws as he continued to scratch, finally feeling calm enough to reenter the tense scenario. Standing up, he shook out his fur and looked to Herun and Terrak, both having been roughed up by the girls. He suppressed a grin.

Sandpiper trotted over to Harlequin, content as ever. She was grinning widely, like a pup who'd caught his first mouse.

Harlequin noted her grin and worked to stop from grinning himself. Watching the two males for a response, he was fairly sure that this scuffle was over, and they had a meal to tend to.

Sandpiper plopped down next to Harlequin. She waited for the two to move out of hearing range, then leaned in and whispered, "How was that? Was it amusing? I love beating the 'big, macho males' and seeing their reactions" She sniggered a little. Eireen looked horrified, her big brown eyes full of shock, "B-But that's so cruel!" Sandpiper sighed a little. "Oh come off it, Eireen, you joined in the fight too." Eireen played with the snow, feeling a little guilty. "I guess..."

About 50 yards away, a little white pup staggered, blood dripping from his wounds. His eyes were clouded, he could barely see through the warm, red liquid that ran from a gash across his forehead. "Mama...." He whined, but there was no one to answer, "Mama...."
